THE SITE

The centre is situated on a rented 2 acre field which was previously used as a tree nursery, with lines of potted trees still in situ.

ANNUAL GARDENS

Herbs, flowers, fruit and vegetables are being grown organically, using a variety  of techniques and methods.

THE POLY-TUNNEL

An existing poly-tunnel frame has been utilised, walls and guttering added, and the skin fitted in January 2015.

EDUCATION/WORKSHOP SPACE

Half the existing poly tunnel structure is being converted into a warm, dry space to host workshops, courses and events.

ON-SITE RECYCLING

The centres resource requirements are met by using locally sourced, 2nd hand and recycled materials, wherever possible.

KIDS AREA

A kids glade is being developed for the younger amongst us to play, while the parents carve a spoon, dig potatoes or chat by the fire.

WATER CATCHMENT

Run-off from adjoining farm buildings supplies all our off-grid water requirements,  with filtering for drinking water.

WATER DISTRUBUTION

Using recycled guttering, a gravity fed distribution system transports water around the site to where it is most in need.

THE WILD FLOWER MEADOW

A traditional wildflower meadow is being established, with a longterm plan to create the conditions necessary for the flora to flourish.

THE FOREST GARDEN

Forest garden and orchard trees have been planted and work to establish other layers will take place over the coming months/years

THE TREE NURSERY

Though many of the existing potted trees were donated to good causes, there were still enough left to start our own tree nursery.

THE HERB SPIRAL

A herb spiral was created in the annual garden area encouraging insects  and providing culinary, medicinal and dying herbs.

THE POND

A donated pond liner was used to create this addition to the sites biodiversity, a larger, clay-lined pond being in the pipeline for 2015.

THE BEES

Bees are being "kept" at the centre to aid our polination, and if they over-produce, to provide us with some lovely honey.

THE WORMERY

Made from an old bath tub, the wormery is used to recycle kitchen waste into compost, also providing "worm tea" for the watering can.

DRY COMPOSTING TOILET

The toilet slowly composts human waste in situ, the urine being separated and used to feed the fruit trees.
